The Psychometrician's Toolbox

What is it?
The Psychometrician's Toolbox consists of three components: the Toolbox, Toolbox Jr., and the Handbook.

  • The Toolbox is a comprehensive software suite for performing operational testing and IRT-based psychometric analyses. Built on a single hierarchical object model, its integrated nature allows the user to move seamlessly among modules that perform a wide variety of tasks, including test assembly and administration as well as test data analyses such as scoring, item calibration, option analysis, scaling, and equating. It even includes routines for performing simulation studies.

  • For those who don't need to conduct operational test administration or need to save a little money, we have a smaller version of Toolbox, called Toolbox, Jr. Still great for conducting research, just without the ability to actually administer tests.

  • While intended as a companion piece to the Toolbox, you can think of the Psychometrician's Handbook as a handbook for measurement practitioners looking to upgrade their skills. Or as a reference book for graduate students just learning their trade. Or just a set of tools for doing some things you always wondered how to do. However you care to think of it, it's a must have collection of IRT-based techniques and tips for performing just about any task you care to perform in the workaday world of psychometrics.

When will it be available?
The production schedule currently calls for the Handbook to become available on or about December 1, 2008. The Toolbox Jr. will follow sometime around March 1, 2009, with Toolbox Sr. coming online in the fall of 2009.

Is there an outline for the Handbook?
There sure is! Follow the link below. And by the way, numerous pieces of the Handbook are for sale in our store now, if you're interested in a less ambitious investment.
